Detectives: Suspects chatted with cafe owner before fatally shooting him

HOUSTON

The shooting happened around 2:30pm Friday at a cafe at a strip center in the 8200 block of Antoine.

As they began to walk out, one of them pulled out a gun and demanded cash from the owner. The owner, who was also armed, pulled out his gun and a shootout ensued.

The owner died at the scene, but authorities believe he shot and injured one of the suspects before they fled the scene. One witness said the men drove away in a chocolate-brown Toyota Camry with faded tinted windows that had been parked behind the strip center.

Detectives say the suspect speak with a distinctive Northern Vietnamese accent.

The second suspect about 5 feet 6 inches tall, medium build, bald or close cropped hair, wearing a baseball hat and sunglasses. He also had a thick padded ski jacket on.
