Deputies were called to the complex on Barker Cypress just north of F.M. 529 around 10pm. When they arrived, they found a man lying dead in a third-floor stairwell outside the door of an apartment.
According to officials, the man does not live in the complex and has not yet been identified.
Deputies believe the dead man may have tried to force his way into the apartment. They are questioning the man who lives there.
The shooting remains under investigation and it's not yet clear if anyone will face charges.
