Suspicious person seen Wednesday on Columbus High School campus arrested

It turns out a suspicious person who triggered a lockdown of several schools on Wednesday is a student.

We showed you the surveillance photo of the mystery person spotted walking into Columbus High School. Police determined the person was a 16-year-old student.

Columbus ISD Superintendent Robert O'Conner told us the unknown person had been spotted the past couple of days in the area and that Columbus High School surveillance system spotted the person walking through a back door of the high school at around 10:30am Wednesday.

Law enforcement was then called out and the high school, the nearby middle school and the nearby elementary school were all put on lockdown as a precaution. No one was found during a subsequent search and the lockdowns were lifted.

Police describe his actions as a prank gone wrong.

The teen is now charged with criminal trespass.
