It happened around 12:30am at the Westberry Gardens apartments on Arboles near Chimney Rock, just across the street from a fire station.
Firefighters were on the scene within minutes. They managed to contain the flames. One unit was heavily damaged and a second unit had minor damage.
The owner of the burned condo thinks he knows who set the fire.
"The owner of that apartment tells us that he and a roommate had split up over the weekend and the roommate had come back last night and tried to set the apartment on fire," said Jay Evans with the Houston Fire Department. "HFD arson is on scene and will be getting the details about this particular roommate."
An investigation is underway.
