Search continues for driver who struck, killed elderly man

HOUSTON

It happened around 7:35pm Thursday in the 12900 block of Beaumont Highway.

Deputies say the victim, Natividad Hernandez, was trying to cross the eastbound lanes of the highway when he was struck by a truck. The driver didn't stop to help the 89-year-old man. Instead, the person behind the wheel kept going and took the southbound exit on the Beltway.

Hernandez was transported in critical condition to an area hospital but later died.

The suspect's truck was described only as a commercial vehicle, possibly a truck with a flatbed trailer.
