Celebrate MLK's birthday with free events this weekend

It's Free Stuff Friday, and we have some great freebies for you this weekend that are jam packed with outdoor events.

There are several events this weekend in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. But first we begin with a great way to rejuvinate your indoor plants.

The cold weather is keeping us most of us from gardening but how about freshing up those house plants. The folks over at Cornelius can help with their re-potting festival. It's Saturday morning from 9am-6pm. Just bring your own plants and pots and Cornelius will provide complimentary potting soil, fertilizer and top dressing to complete your project. There is also a free clinic at 10:15 a.m. There are two Cornelius locations.

Need some extra fuel in the morning? Einstein Bros. Bagels is offering a buy one sandwich, get one free. You will have to like Einstein Bros. on their Facebook page and print out this coupon or show it to the store cashier on your smartphone to redeem. The coupon expires February 10.

Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday with several free events. The Black Heritage Society's MLK Children's March begins at Minute Maid Park. Then the Black Heritage Society's is hosting a community health fair and youth concert at MacGregor Park from 10am until 4:30pm. Then there are two MLK parade's Monday, both beginning at 10am. One parade originates in Midtown and the other at Minute Maid Park.

If you haven't made it to the Houston Aquarium because of price, take advantage of this Saturday, as well as January 26, for a buy one, get one free admission deal. You must present coupon and the pass includes unlimited access to shark voyage, aquarium adventure exhibit and the ferris wheel. That's a $15.99 value. This deal is not valid with any other promotion.

And if are in the cold weather mood, join the penguins and head over to Discovery Green for a free screening of "Happy Feet 2." Watch Mumble and Gloria help their son struggle to find his place in the penguin empire while facing dangers that will bring everyone to work and dance together. This event will begin 6:30pm Thursda. Don't forget to bring a blanket.
