Info sought in murder of driver playing loud music in SW Houston parking lot

HOUSTON

The shooting happened on December 3 in a southwest Houston strip mall parking lot near Harwin on Gessner outside of a club named Bar Uno. Police say at 3:30am a group of men was circling the parking lot in their silver Ford F-150 pickup truck playing loud music. When they parked the truck behind a dark green Toyota 4Runner SUV, officers say at least one of the two people inside that SUV opened fire on the truck.

The pickup truck driver, Silas Armando Najera-Hernandez, was killed and his friend was injured. Najera-Hernandez, 23, was a landscaper who did not have a criminal history and was an innocent person, according to police.

The description of the two suspects is vague. One is described as tall, heavyset and bald, and the other was wearing a baseball cap. Both were speaking Spanish. Police believe someone in that parking lot saw what happened, and can help bring the killer or killers to justice.

"They disregarded any kind of respect for human life by just shooting into a truck. They had no idea. The truck had tinted windows on it, there could have been a kid inside. Even though it was three in the morning, there still could have been a kid inside," said HPD Homicide Investigator Mark Condan. "Multiple rounds hit the truck, so they have just no respect for any kind of human life by shooting into the vehicle."

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case. The phone number to call is 713-222-TIPS, and police want to stress that you can remain anonymous, as they feel some witnesses may be afraid to come forward to assist them.
