Police: Driver fell asleep before deadly wreck

HOUSTON

The accident happened in the 14300 block of Main Street at about 8:45am. Police say a woman was driving a silver Toyota Camry southbound on Main Street when the vehicle crossed the center grassy median and struck a white Lincoln LS, traveling northbound on Main. The Lincoln was then struck by a a white Toyota Avalon, also traveling northbound on Main. The woman driving the Lincoln died at the scene. Her identity has not been released.

The 37-year-old driver of the Camry was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Avalon was not injured and remained at the scene.

Police say further investigation determined the driver of the Camry fell asleep at the wheel just before the accident. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
