Several weekend closures planned for the 'spaghetti bowl'

HOUSTON

Beginning tonight at 9pm and lasting until Monday morning at 5am, the Southwest Freeway northbound connector ramp to 610 northbound will be shut down.

Drivers can get around it by staying on 59 past the loop, exiting at Weslayan and U-turning to get back on 59 southbound and then the Loop northbound.

At the same time, one right lane of the West Loop northbound at the Southwest Freeway will be shut down. However, the West Loop northbound main lanes at the Southwest Freeway will be completely shut down from 10pm Saturday until 5am Sunday.

Drivers can detour to the West Loop northbound mainlanes "hot link" exit to Westheimer and then reenter the West Loop northbound mainlanes via the Richmond entrance ramp.

The West Loop from Highway 59 northbound to the Westheimer exit will also be completely shut down from 10pm Saturday until 5am Sunday. Drivers can detour to the West Loop main lanes to the San Felipe Exit ramp, U-turn at San Felipe to the 610 southbound frontage road to Westheimer.

The work is being done to repair damage done when an oversized 18-wheeler struck the Southwest Freeway northbound ramp to the 610 West Loop northbound back on December 2.
