Like Lykos, Anderson is also a former criminal court judge, but he served for years as a top tier Harris County prosecutor heading up the office's organized crime division.
Some of the prosecutors Lykos fired are now applying for jobs under the new administration. While not criticizing his predecessor, Anderson says it's a fresh start for the office.
"There's so much that I've got to do looking forward and there's great material here and there's great material out there, that we're going to put together the best team we can," said Anderson.
Anderson says wants to personally prosecute cases of those accused of killing law enforcement officers. That will begin with the trial of Harlem Lewis, who's accused of killing Bellaire police Sgt. Jimmie Norman on Christmas Eve.
