Taylor Lee McClain, 43, is a former Atascocita High School teacher and coach, now charged with three felony sex crimes.
"It's a very sad state of affairs," said neighbor Patty Pitts "They have a child and I think it's sad for their child."
According to court documents, McClain took two of his female students, aged 15 and 16, to a haunted house on October 20. McClain and the 16-year-old allegedly drank alcohol and had sex in his car. Police later raided McClain's home and allegedly found 20 images of child pornography on his cell phone.
Nobody answered the door when we knocked, and his daughter later came out and asked us to leave.
"How would anybody hold up? These are very serious charges," said McClain's attorney Paul Houston Lavalle. "We understand the concern. We understand the community concern."
McClain is now out of jail on a $90,000 bond.
"I would like to think we'll be able to look at the evidence and our experts will look at the evidence and we'll find out if there's enough to go to trial," Lavalle said.
McClain has resigned from his position at Atascocita High School.
The Humble school district sent us a statement, which reads in part: "Taylor McClain resigned Nov. 9 amid the district's investigation of allegations of a sexual relationship with a female student. Humble ISD took the additional step of informing the State Board for Educator Certification of the investigation, and his teaching certificate was sanctioned."
McClain appeared in court Thursday morning, but his hearing was pushed back to a date in February. He is charged with sexual assault of a child and two counts of possession of child pornography.
