Katy Freeway-West Loop entrance ramp reopens after lost load cleanup

HOUSTON

The entrance ramp to the 610 West Loop from the Katy Freeway has reopened after it was blocked all morning because of an overturned 18 wheeler. That big rig lost its load at around 2am today on the I-10 eastbound ramp to the northbound West Loop.

According to Houston Transtar, the big rig flipped on its side, then lost the load of several rolls of steel. The Houston Fire Department tells us the truck's driver was speeding on the curve of the ramp when this all happened.

Workers used a front loader and dumpster to remove the steel from the ramp.

The ramp finally reopened shortly before noon.

A sergeant at the scene told us that the driver will be cited for this incident because he allegedly took the ramp too fast and didn't have the load properly secured.
