A family in east Houston got a scare when their backyard tool shed caught fire just feet from their home.

Firefighters were called out to the home on Cargill near Pearl around 9:30 last night. The family was inside the home when they noticed the flames coming from the shed. Fearing the fire would spread to their home, they quickly escaped the house.

Luckily, firefighters were able to put out the flames before anything else was damaged by the fire.

"What actually got in the house was some smoke, you did see a couple of HFD companies in the house, that was to check for extention and to make sure no smoke or flames got into the attic," said HFD District Chief Patrick Rocha.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No one was hurt.
