Toy drive to benefit abused, neglected kids

HOUSTON

The BEARing Gifts program is collecting donations for BEAR (Be a Resource for CPS Kids), a nonprofit partnership that helps abused and neglected children in the Harris County Children's Protective Services system who otherwise may have no gifts at all this holiday season.

Last year, BEARing Gifts helped 8,400 area children. This year, they are aiming even higher, and they need your help.

You can drop off new and unwrapped gifts through November 30 at toy drive site FrogDog -- 4707 Eigel, Houston, Texas 77007. Donations will be accepted Monday-Friday from 9-11:30am and 1:30-5:30pm. FrogDog will then deliver your toys to the BEAR warehouse in early December. Some gift ideas include action figures, educational toys, cosmetics, jewelry, games, electronics, toy and remote-control vehicles, board games, puzzles, dolls and stuffed animals.

Donors also have the option of sponsoring a specific child or children. From infants to teens, children of all ages need sponsors this holiday season. When you sponsor a child, you will receive that specific child's wish list and drop off one or more items from the list at the BEAR warehouse -- 630 W. 6th Street -- by December 14.

Volunteers and monetary donations are needed as well. For more information, visit www.bearesourcehouston.org.
