Auto theft ring busted by Pasadena police

PASADENA, TX

On November 15, a Pasadena patrol sergeant saw suspicious activity in the 5400 block of Vista. Authorities said the officer spotted a Ford F350 and F250 circle the parking lot of a motel for several seconds and then leave.

The officer followed the suspect vehicles and turned on his lights, but they split up. The officer chased the F250, which accelerated and eventually crashed into a drainage ditch.

Backup officers later caught up to the F350.

Officials said both vehicles were stolen and both drivers were arrested.

One of the suspects told police the thefts were part of a "chop shop" auto-theft ring. Detectives found multiple parts in various degrees of disassembly at four different locations in Pasadena, Crosby and off Highway 90.

The investigation is ongoing.
