Precinct 6 constables were called to the Best Buy at Gulfgate Shopping Center for a shoplifting suspect. A unit arrived and spotted a man who matched the description leaving the store and heading towards his car. A deputy constable approached and the suspect jumped in the car and fled.
The suspect evaded police along the South Loop, on and off the freeway. He traveled along the feeder road before he turned down Wayside, U-turned back up to the feeder. He eventually came to a stop along the freeway.
An EMS crew was called out to the scene after the suspect complained of some type of pain. He was taken into custody without incident.
