It happened just before 11:30pm on the Eastex Freeway feeder near Hartwick.
Deputies say two vehicles were speeding and one tried to out-drive the other onto the entrance ramp.
The cars collided at the freeway entrance. One vehicle overturned, hit a wrought-iron fence and then bursts into flames.
The other vehicle with three people inside overturned and landed in a field.
Surprisingly, deputies say no one was injured.
One of the drivers ran away after the crash but was arrested about a block away and received a ticket for driving without a license, officials say.
According to investigators, alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
