DEA raids pill mill operations around Houston

HOUSTON

Agents raided a pain relief clinic Friday in north Harris County. This was one of 37 pain clinics, several residences and an MRI facility that were raided by agents this week alone.

Agents seized medications, documents and other items during their investigations. The DEA tell us it is difficult to crack down on pill mill operations because they keep changing names.

"A lot of times what we see is individual facilities will open up as a rehabilitation center and next week they'll be a wellness center so it's very difficult because the name changes and the focus changes, but at the end of the day its still a pill mill," said Sharnett Lattimore with the DEA.

The DEA says Houston is becoming a center for pill mills because of a change in Louisiana laws regarding pain clinics.
