Police: Body of missing A&M student from Houston likely found

MARLIN, TX

Anthony Carey's car was found Monday night in a heavily wooded area in Marlin, Texas.

"A car was on the side of the road. We secured the area out and contacted the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and they brought their search dogs. Those dogs picked up a scent and went into the woods in that's where they discovered a body," Marlin Police Department Chief Darell Allen said.

Detectives are still working to positively identify the victim as Carey and say the body has been sent to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences Medical Examiners Office in Dallas for an autopsy.

Carey has been missing since last Thursday, when his family says he left Houston to head back to College Station. No one has heard from Carey since then.

Police said found his vehicle after they received information suggesting he may have headed to Marlin, up near Waco.

No other details were immediately available.
