Free events, food this weekend

HOUSTON

After taking advantage of tax-free deals this Friday, a lot of parents likely are looking for something fun and free. So we compiled a list of fun events the whole family can enjoy.

Give the kids a break with a flick while you float at the Friendswood city pool. The City of Friendswood Community Service Department is hosting a pool party Friday night called Dive-In Movie. Gates open at 7pm and the movie "Dolphin Tale" starts at dusk. The Friendswood city pool is located at 900 Cedarwood.

The Miller Outdoor Theatre is hosting some really fun performances the next few days. On Friday night, it's a performance of the beloved "Annie" at 8pm. Then Saturday, watch the Big Band: Tribute to Pop, Gospel and a Touch of Broadway, which also starts at 8pm. Then next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the Miller kicks off a summer brat-pack trilogy with John Hughes' movies that include showings of "Sixteen Candles," "The Breakfast Club," and "Pretty in Pink." All shows start at 8:15pm.

Chili's is always offering free stuff and this time they want you to include you and your friends for free chips and salsa. You will have to send a video invite to your friends and then you'll get a coupon. Just go to bagthebaglunch.com, name your bag and send the video to a friend for the free offer. This deal is valid with any adult entree or lunch combo and expires August 23.

Is this the school year you plan to stay organize? Then head over to the Container Store this Saturday and Sunday from 2-4pm to learn smart strategies for staying organized. The store will give away a $15 gift card during each demonstration. If you can't make it this weekend, the store is hosting free demos the last weekend in August. There are three Container Store locations in the Houston area, the Galleria, Champions and The Woodlands.

And bargain hunters unite, the Discovery Green Flea by Night is from 6-10pm this Saturday. The market features an array of eco art, vintage items, mid-century modern furniture, recycled and repurposed items and collectibles.
