Law enforcement center named for slain TX trooper

BIG SPRING, TX

Dedication ceremonies were held Thursday in Big Spring at the Troy M. Hogue Law Enforcement Center. The complex is the new home for the Big Spring Police Department and the Howard County Sheriff's Office.

A DPS patrol boat named for Hogue was also displayed.

Hogue was a Big Spring police officer for 14 years before joining DPS. The trooper was stationed in Big Spring in December 1994 when he was shot and killed by a DWI suspect after a traffic wreck on Interstate 20.

A teenager was convicted of the killing and sentenced to life in prison.
