Harris Co. leaders doing hurricane exercise Wednesday

HOUSTON

Harris County homeland security and other emergency officials plan the exercise Wednesday and Thursday at Reliant Center in Houston.

Volunteers will join state and local emergency management officials in testing storm-related responses for Harris County, which has nearly 4.2 million residents.

Organizers said Tuesday that the exercise will include activation of emergency personnel, point of distribution coordination, radio communication and information management.

Recovery efforts continue in Southeast Texas from Hurricane Ike, which battered the Galveston and Houston areas on Sept. 13, 2008.
