Police release video of shootout during robbery

HOUSTON

A 35-year-old store clerk from northwest Houston remains in critical condition after being shot in the back by a robber on July 20. But one of the suspects may also be nursing a wound.

Surveillance video released Thursday shows what appears to be a suspect getting hit by the store owner who returned fire.

It was right around 2pm in the 11000 block of FM 529 when two masked gunman jump out of a gold Chevy extended cab pick-up.

They rushed into the Conoco store with pistols drawn and their adrenaline pumping. The store clerk was pushed aside and eventually shot in the back during the robbery.

One suspect wearing red shorts jumped over the counter and banged on the cash register. Another wearing a red ball cap paced around with his pistol ready to fire. But it's him that appears to take a bullet.

When the store owner hears his clerk get wounded, what you can't see is him emerge from the back firing. It appears the suspect winces and stumbles to the ground before he gets up and both run from the store.

The getaway truck was found abandoned about a block away. It had blood inside was riddled with bullets from the store owner. However, the suspects were gone. One possibly is still suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper right thigh.

Anyone with information on the two suspects and the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
