Alice police Chief Daniel Bueno says nobody was immediately arrested following Sunday's incident.
Bueno says Isaac Vela was fatally shot while along a street as people in two vehicles exchanged gunfire. Four men in an SUV sped away and were chased by the other vehicle.
The SUV hit a wall. Police say Omar Beltran died of head trauma. Officials say driver Dagoberto Baiza and Juan Miguel Benavides were shot, but police are trying to determine if the traffic accident caused their deaths.
Another passenger was seriously hurt. A spokeswoman at Christus Spohn Hospital did not immediately return a message Monday on his condition.
