Brother of missing local man drowns in Guadalupe River

HOUSTON

Will Murray, 22, was swimming with friends at the Guadalupe River Tuesday when he drowned. It's just the latest tragedy for that family.

This Montgomery County family is finding themselves again, dealing with an unspeakable tragedy. According to the Comal County Sheriff's Office, Will Murray drowned while trying to swim across the Guadalupe River late on Tuesday afternoon.

He is from The Woodlands and that loss would seem great enough for a family. But there's more. We've introduced you to his family before. His father, Tom Murray, is a well-known teacher and coach at Oak Ridge High School and has spent recent months looking for one of Will's brothers, T.J. Murray, who disappeared last October.

T.J. Murray was at a local bar and called his father to tell him he was staying out later. That was the last they heard from him. Authorities say he had been arguing with someone at a bar in the Sawdust Road area. His vehicle was later found in a parking lot, his cell phone in a ditch nearby, and he remains missing.

As for Will Murray, investigators say he swam across the river more than once during the day, and had joked with friends about being dead, so they didn't immediately think anything was wrong when he didn't surface. He was underwater for 30 minutes and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
