Smash-and-grab crooks made a mess of two different businesses in southwest Houston this morning.

Just after 2am, police say burglars broke in through glass doors at the Water 2 Wine wine bar at 3331 Westpark near Buffalo Speedway and the Rustika Cafe at 3237 Southwest Freeway near Kirby.

At the wine bar, the burglars broke through the two front double doors and a window. Within seconds, they ran out with the cash drawer and an unknown amount of money. They did not touch the wines.

A few minutes earlier, police believe that likely the same thieves broke into the cafe just a block away. There, they also broke through the front door and took off with the cash drawer and an unknown amount of money.

There was another smash-and-grab burglary at a nearby Sprint cell phone store a few weeks ago.
