Authorities say a house fire in northeast Houston was started when a car crashed into a home overnight.

It happened at a home on Crane Street near Kashmere. Police say a man crashed his car into the side of the home and blew up the gas line, which then caught the home on fire.

The family inside the home made it out safely, but the driver then took off running. It didn't take long for police to track him down.

It turns out he lived in the house next door and was found inside hiding under the bed.

There is no word on what charges he may face.
