According to court documents, Cristal Ann Gay left her kids, including a 9-month-old baby, in a room at the Studio Plus Houston in the 13500 block of the North Freeway near Rankin for at least an hour without adult supervision on June 28.
Police say they received a call from a citizen who had a dispute with Gay regarding a theft. When police arrived, they say the called told them that Gay left the hotel property to go smoke crack and that she may have left her small children in the room.
According to police, they found four kids -- ages 7, 3, 2 and 9 months -- alone and asleep in the room. Police say they were there for at least 40 minutes before Gay showed up. They say she told them that she thought someone was watching the kids.
Police say they also found drugs on Gay. She was arrested the same day.
Gay, 27, is charged with abandoning a child, as well as drug possession. Bond has been set at a total of $5,000.
