The body of Lisa Camille Land was recovered Friday at the Best Budget Inn on N. Circle Drive.
Police believe she was assaulted but they have named no suspects.
Land's family said she was living at the motel because that's all she could afford while she tried to make ends meet working at a barbecue restaurant.
"She was trying so hard to get everything back right and get right with everybody else," said Land's sister, Dana Douglas. "We just want to find who did this and get justice. We can't get my sister back but we can make the person who did this pay."
