Utah authorities say there still is no sign of a 21-year-old Texas man who fell into the Colorado River during a trip with University of Texas at El Paso geology students.

Officials at the Grand County Sheriff's Office in eastern Utah say Thursday afternoon they are continuing to search for Waley Liang.

He was trying to follow six other people through the river to an island located 50 yards from the Gold Bar Recreation Area about 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Deputies say the group of people on the island tried to rescue him, but didn't find him.

UTEP says the rest of the group would be flying to El Paso Thursday and counseling would be available to those who request it.
