The wreck happened around 2:10am at the intersection of Harwin and Fondren, police said.
A woman driving a silver Nissan Pathfinder ran a red light and struck a Nissan truck heading northbound on Fondren. The woman got out of her vehicle, checked on the victim but then fled on foot with her male passenger. The driver of the Nissan truck died.
The woman, who's been described only as a Hispanic woman between the ages of 20 and 25, was last seen headed southbound on Fondren.
