Man robs daycare in north Harris County

HOUSTON

Harris Co. Precinct 4 deputy constables say at around noon Tuesday, a black male who appeared to be in his 20s walked into the Stay and Play at 807 Peakwood, and specifically demanded the gray cashbox at gunpoint. The suspect fled after taking the cashbox.

Four adults -- two employees and two visitors -- were in the front office during the robbery. However, no shots were fired, and there were no injuries.

A woman who works at the daycare told Eyewitness News that the daycare is open 24 hours and about 72 kids were present at the time of the robbery. She says all the children were napping when it happened and that none of the kids saw anything.

"The children are safe, and we're not taking no more media at all," a woman at the daycare told us.

The employee wouldn't comment about whether any new safety measures will be implemented now.

However, we were told that the suspect never made it past the front office.
