Innocent plea in $2.3 million San Antonio robbery

SAN ANTONIO, TX

Johnny Lewan Kirk entered his plea Monday to three federal charges related to the March 2010 robbery of $2.3 million worth of jewelry from a store at a San Antonio mall.

The 43-year-old Kirk joins 45-year-old accomplice Marvin Donald Steele, also from Oklahoma City, awaiting trial.

The San Antonio Express-News reports (http://bit.ly/KgRPaV) about half of the loot has been recovered.

Police got a break when some of the items showed up at pawnshops in Oklahoma City. A jeweler checked a serial number on a Rolex watch and it matched a stolen item from San Antonio. That led to an FBI raid that recovered a number of other stolen pieces.
