Rosenberg police announced Saturday that the victim of a deadly overnight 18-wheeler crash was a high school student.

Three of her classmates were also injured in the crash -- the 18-year-old driver and two other passengers, both 16.

The accident happened around 7:45pm Friday.

Police said an 18-wheeler, driven by a 58-year-old Houston man, was northbound on Highway 59.

The driver of the Camry entered the northbound lanes of Highway 59 and was trying to cross the freeway at Cottonwood Church Road when the car was broadsided by the 18-wheeler, officials said.

Garcia died at the scene.

Officials said 18-year-old driver and one passenger were airlifted to Memorial Hermann. At last check, both were serious condition.

The other passenger suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Oak Bend.

It was unclear if the truck driver was injured.

Authorities said this accident remains under investigation.
