You may not realize it, but one of the oldest international and independent film festivals in the nation is underway right now here in Houston.

The Worldfest-Houston International Film Festival is now in its 45th year, and there's a little something for everyone. Thursday night's screenings include the Indonesian martial-arts action flick, "Pirate Brothers." Or you can check out the spiritually uplifting film "Dreams Awake" which follows a family on vacation near the mystical Mount Shasta in northern California. Or follow a woman as she struggles to survive in a post-apocalyptic world in "Population 2."

All of the films are showing at the AMC Studio 30 theaters on Dunvale. The festival lasts through Sunday, April 22.
