Some volunteers in South Texas have come up empty again in the search for where the Battle of Medina (muh-DEE'-nuh) was fought almost 200 years ago.

Experts say nothing definitive was found in the weekend search of some private land just south of San Antonio.

The San Antonio Express-News reports this time volunteers were looking in Atascosa County. The area is a few miles from a Texas Historical Commission marker near Leming commemorating the 1813 battle.

Dan Arellano with the Battle of Medina Society says the current search effort will continue until June.

The battle was waged by an army of Texians against Spain on Aug. 18, 1813, after the Tejano Declaration of Independence. More than 1,000 members of the Texas army died in the initial fight.
