Thousands of Aggies are finding out that their alma mater accidentally released their personal information, including social security numbers.

Texas A&M University tells us that a person in the registrar's office accidentally emailed out the names, social security numbers, addresses and phones numbers of nearly 4,000 alumni. The email was only intended for one person, officials said.

Affected alumni attended the university before 1985.

A&M tells us they have no reports of the data being used illegally.

University officials said they are in the process of finding current contact information for the alumni to notify them of the accidental release of the data.

The incident is under investigation.
