A four-foot gator was just sitting on the service road and not moving.
Brittany Hernandez says she and her mother were driving back from a trip to Jack in the Box when she spotted the reptile.
"I saw it and I told my mom and she didn't believe me, but I kept on talking about it so she turned back," Hernandez said.
Hernandez said another driver pulled up beside them and asked them to call 911. That's when police showed up and animal control was called.
Other people in the area also stopped by the scene to see the alligator.
"My wife called me on the phone and said there was an alligator off the Beltway and I wanted to come see it," witness Randy Wright said. "I know they're here. I work in Pasadena so I see them all the time, but I don't want to see them get killed."
Police blocked the service road lanes until animal control arrived and seized it.
