Environmental crews are responding to an oil spill near Hitchcock.

The U.S. Coast Guard says about 84,000 gallons of oil and waste water was released. A spill containment system stopped most of the oil from going any further. About 4,200 gallons did pour into Highland Bayou.

Crews are now working to minimize any environmental impact.
