The suspect in the death of a man found shot at an east Houston apartment complex is now in custody.

Houston police found the victim on the ground just after 11pm at the Rollingwood apartment homes on Maxey near Church.

Neighbor kids watched in horror as the victim stumbled down the stairs and fell next to the playground in the courtyard. An ambulance transported the victim, Micheal M. McClain, 21, to Ben Taub Hospital where he later died.

Houston police say McClain was visiting an apartment at the complex with two male suspects when a physical altercation started. McClain opened the door to the apartment and then returned inside. Witnesses then reported hearing a gunshot and saw McClain run from the apartment to the courtyard of the apartment complex.

Both suspects fled the scene.

One suspect later returned and was taken into custody for questioning.

The investigation is continuing.
