A southwest Houston woman said she's lucky to be alive after a police chase ended right in front of her Sunday.

The chase ended at Overbrook and Shadow View, but police said the driver totaled three other cars.

According to officers, it started when the driver ran a stop sign at Meadow Lake.

An officer turned on his lights, but authorities said the suspect sped away, smashing into three vehicles.

The car came to rest outside of one woman's apartment.

Another woman says she was standing outside when the suspect hit one of the cars in front of her.

"I was standing in the middle of the cars. I said, 'oh, my God, he could have killed me. I could have been killed because I was in the middle of the two cars," the woman told us.

Police said the driver tried to run, but officers were able to catch him.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and faces charges for evading.
