Comic strip criticizes Gov. Perry, sonogram law

AUSTIN, TX

There have been a series of them. The latest out today was posted on author Garry Trudeau's Doonesbury website. In it, a woman goes to a doctor's officer to receive a sonogram under the new abortion law. The doctor asks, "ShallI I describe its hopes and dreams?" The woman replies, "If it wants to be the next rick Perry, I've made up my mind"

The governor's office released a statement on the comics, saying, "The decision to end a life is not funny. There is nothing comic about this tasteless interpretation of legislation we have passed in Texas to ensure that women have all the facts when making a life-ending decision."

It also says that Governor Perry is proud of his leadership on the sonogram law.
