Harris County Precinct 6 Constable's Office deputies say at least three suspects robbed the IBC Bank at 3800 Woodridge near the South Loop at around 12:30pm Thursday. The Harris Co. Precinct 6 dispatcher broadcast that a white male and a black male suspect were seen leaving the area on foot.
Police who patrol the Gulf Gate area caught one suspect near the bank with the money still in his hand. The second suspect was found running away from the scene. Deputies say both suspects were brought back to the scene where witnesses positively identified them.
Police admit it's not often they have the opportunity to catch thieves so quickly.
"Bank robberies are real quick. I think it's good coordination with the bank that they gave out a very detailed description of the suspects and the response time that law enforcement had played a significant role in the capture of these two suspects," said Lt. Julio Banda with the Houston Police Department.
No one was hurt in the robbery.
The investigation and suspects were turned over to the Houston Police Department and the FBI. Charges are pending further investigation.
