Burnet County Jail officials say 40-year-old Johnny Ybarra escaped around midnight Wednesday. He was recaptured Thursday morning.
The Burnet County Sheriff's Office did not immediately provide further details.
Ybarra's trial had started when he pleaded guilty last month to three counts of sexual assault involving three women during 2011. Prosecutors say Ybarra was sentenced to three life prison terms, to be served concurrently.
