The accident happened before 7am on Highway 90 at Lindstrom. The driver of a Dodge Neon died at the scene.
"The Dodge Neon driver was travelling westbound on the inside lane of Highway 90 and there was an 18-wheeler that was attempting to cross Highway 90 at Lindstrom," said an official at the scene. "Investigators say the 18-wheeler failed to yield right away at the stop sign and the Dodge Neon went up underneath the trailer of the 18-wheeler."
A 14-year-old female passenger in the Neon was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with head and neck injuries. She is listed in stable condition.
Authorities say both drivers were not wearing seatbelts.
