Accident causes power outage in SW Houston

A neighborhood is without power after a car crashed in southwest Houston and downed power lines.

The accident happened on Corporate Drive at Sandstone Street.

A driver lost control of the car and it flipped, hitting a pole and knocking down power lines.

According to the Houston Fire Department, two females were in the car. They tried to run away from the scene, but were stopped.

No serious injuries were reported.

CenterPoint said the wreck initially knocked out power to about 2,000 customers. They replaced the pole and restored power to everyone by early Saturday afternoon.
