Liberty County sheriff's deputies were called to a home on County Road 2274 around 4am yesterday. A homeowner said he shot at two men who were trying to steal a welding machine and the men fled in a black Ford Explorer.
The driver of a black Explorer with a gunshot wound in his back pulled over on Highway 90 near the East Beltway and asked a pedestrian to call 911. He was taken to the hospital.
Now detectives are trying to figure out if he was one of those robbers.
