Three people were taken to an area hospital Sunday after a multiple-vehicle accident on the North Freeway involving a METRO bus.

The crash happened just before noon in the 4300 block of Interstate 45 northbound at Airline.

According to METRO officials, it all started when a pickup truck and a car collided on the freeway.

The truck veered off the freeway and into the parking lot of Northline Mall where it struck several other vehicles, officials said.

The car spun out and hit the METRO bus.

There were 25 people on the bus. One of them was transported to Northwest Memorial Hermann Hospital, officials said. Two people from the car were also taken to Northwest Memorial.

Police said none of the injuries were life-threatening.

The North Freeway was closed at Airline while police investigated and cleared the accident scene. All lanes re-opened within an hour.

We have a crew at the hospital trying to gather more information. Please stay with abc13.com for updates as new details become available.
