It happened around 5am on Sunburst at Avenue B.
A few hours later, the roadway was under water and the water main was still gushing.
Neighbors said it did not affect the water supply at their homes. Some neighbors assumed the rain was to blame for the flooding until they aw the gusher blasting water into their street.
Water crept into some yards, but it did not enter any homes.
City crews used backhoes to dig into the source of the break and repair it. They have not said what caused it.
