Teen accused of robbing man she met online

HOUSTON

A man told police that he met Melissa Rubi Orduno, 18, via a personal ad on a website. While they talked for a couple of days on the phone, Orduno reportedly told him that she needed help to pay her bills. Court documents state that the man agreed to give her $50, and asked what he would get for helping her. Orduno reportedly told him that he would have to come over to find out.

On February 1, the man went to an apartment complex on Brook Glade Circle and met up with Orduno and followed her into a dark apartment bedroom. He told police he was struck from behind with a wooden club and several men demanded his money. He handed it over and ran from the scene.

The victim later went to the hospital where he received six staples in his head for a laceration. He suffered other bruises, and told police he had been in fear for his life.

Police tracked down Orduno through her cell phone, and the victim identified her in a photo lineup. She has been charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. Bail has been set at $30,000.
